Miracle Mile turning into restaurant row

The Miracle Mile is picking up some new restaurant action with two new eateries in the lineup as owners and managers in the retail area hope to see the area continue to evolve into a restaurant row.

A combination barbecue place and meat market opened last month, and a steakand-seafood restaurant is relocating to the Mile in July after 25 years in Lodi. Kinder's Meats, Deli and BBQ, a combination meat market, delicatessen and dining/catering restaurant, opened at 1740 Pacific Ave. The restaurant is part of a Benicia-based chain of 13 restaurants located mostly in the Bay Area. The company has a restaurant in Tracy and plans to open another in Manteca.

Kinder's manager Marc Kardos said the Miracle Mile site was selected instead of a north Stockton location because it was in a "centrally located area of town being upgraded, and we thought the Mile was an attractive area to go to." The response thus far has been pretty good, he said.
